Live theatre for the community
The Yackandandah Theatre Company was formed with the aim of performing varied and accessible live theatre for the community. The company was formed in 2001 and has produced plays by both local writers and well known playwrights. Each year we aim to do one production and involve as many members as possible either as actors, writers, backstage or assisting with sound and lighting. It’s a great way to meet people, learn about the many aspects of stage craft and have some fun. New members are always welcome.
Calling all playwrights!
Attention budding playwrights with a bottom draw full of unpublished play scripts, and secret scribblers with forgotten notebooks filled with story ideas… its time now to pull them out and start killing your darlings so that you can submit your 10-minute playscript by the September 1 St deadline.
We are looking for stories of joy or sadness or humour or pain … or anything in-between. Life lessons and cautionary tales, simple revelations of life’s absurdity, or meaningful moments of brief importance. Comedy, drama, adventure or romance… anything that might be an instruction for living.
Successful submissions will be produced and performed in the first half of 2027.
